About
Vocayoga is a fun way to learn singing and yoga together in a group, although it can also be learned in individual sessions. It’s suitable for complete beginners, you don’t have to know how to do yoga or singing, and it’s especially beneficial for those who are a bit nervous about using their voice, or who think they can’t sing! Through the use of breathing techniques, Qigong, and Seasonal Yoga, you are able to find your voice in a safe and supportive space. There are no vocal exercises as such, but you will learn chanting and have the opportunity to make sound in a more natural way than you might in formal vocal tuition. The yoga enhances the voicework by gently leading you away from the fear of it, and through the use of the voice and breath you might find you can stretch that bit more and have the confidence to try yoga where you might not have before. The classes often finish with a yoga nidra meditation and soundbath with the lovely sounds of a crystal singing pyramid, so you will leave feeling totally rested and restored, and hopefully a bit more confident about your abilities.
I am an experienced Voice Coach running a busy teaching practice in the southside of Glasgow. I gained my 200 Hours Seasonal Yoga certificate in 2020 so throughout the year my classes are geared towards learning yoga for each season, and as it’s based on the Chinese calendar, working on the meridians for that season. Check out my facebook group.
It is useful for complete beginners too, as it is a gentle practice incorporating easy to learn techniques but which create a deep sense of relaxation and which enhance the body’s parasympathetic nervous system. Breathing techniques are universally therapeutic for all, and the classes are varied in the sense that all aspects of pranayama, Seasonal Yoga, and voicework are covered. There is never a requirement for anyone to sing on their own, or even to sing at all if they are very nervous, but it is amazing how quickly a sense of peace can enter a group who are breathing, doing yoga and making sounds together, and students quickly gain confidence.
The soundbaths, yoga nidras and chakra toning meditations are all wonderful ways to enter a deeply relaxed state and chill out after a session of Vocayoga, and there is a sense of stillness in having gently stretched the the body, mind, and voice in a group setting, then having plenty of time to spend in Savasana, the final resting pose in yoga, where the body, mind and spirit get a chance to rebalance and recharge.

I would probably advise going to a Pregnancy Yoga class, unless you are booking a specific Pregnancy Yoga session.
Usually but it depends what it is and what your doctor has advised. Please always let yoga teachers know if you have any health issues.
Please note I have a 24 hour cancellation policy which I do uphold unless dire emergencies arise. If you or your child have anything infectious then it is your responsibility to cancel the session, as this could impact on myself (as has happened before) or other students. If your session is over 90 mins then half the session time may be redeemed, depending on my availability. Thank you for understanding.
